Dr. Jackson earned his Ph.D in Biomedical Science in 1982 from the University of Texas, Houston. For the last 32 years, Dr. Jackson has been vitally involved in teaching, research and academic administration. In academic year: 2000-2001, he was the elected representative of the faculty to the Administration and the Board of Regents for the State of Nevada; his constituencies were the 500 faculty and 40,000 students of the Community College of Southern Nevada, Las Vegas, NV (CCSN). From July/2007-June/2013, Dr. Jackson served as the Chair of the CCSN Biological Sciences Department comprised of 25 full-time and 60 part-time faculty members. He was also responsible for managing its departmental annual budget of about $ 4 million dollars; the department served about 3500 students each semester during Dr. Jackson’s period of chairmanship.
